Contribution à l'étude du couplage entre diffusion d'eau et contrainte mécaniques dans les matériaux marins hautes performances ArchiMer
Humeau, Corentin.
The aim of the study was to understand the impact of coupling on water diffusion and mechanical stress on marine installations. Moreover, we identified the key phenomena involved during this type of exposure. When we look to these type of applications we can distinguish two type of materials used: one for the structure and another for mooring facilities. The best performing structural materials appear to be composites, while the most effective mooring devices are made with synthetic ropes. Therefore, we decided to investigate both materials with the same method: first the properties uncoupled, second, as semi-coupled behaviours and finally as one coupled phenomenon. The present work highlights the divergences between uncoupled, semi-coupled and coupled...

Epicuticular waxes from caatinga and cerrado species and their efficiency against water loss Anais da ABC (AABC)
Oliveira,Antonio F. M.; Meirelles,Sérgio T.; Salatino,Antonio.
The effects of the contents and chemical composition of the foliar epicuticular waxes of species from the caatinga (Aspidosperma pyrifolium, Capparis yco, Maytenus rigida and Ziziphus joazeiro) and cerrado (Aristolochia esperanzae, Didymopanax vinosum, Strychnos pseudoquina and Tocoyena formosa) were evaluated as to the resistance to water loss by means of an experimental device constructed for this purpose. In general, the waxes of the caatinga species investigated were more efficient against water loss than cerrado species. Increase of the thickness of the waxy deposits from 40 to 90m g.cm-2 had no significant effect on the resistance to water loss. The chemistry of the wax constituents was shown to be an important factor to determine the degree of...

Periods of constant and falling-rate for infrared drying of carrot slices AGRIAMBI
Botelho,Fernando M.; Corrêa,Paulo C.; Goneli,André. L. D.; Martins,Márcio A.; Magalhães,Felipe E. A.; Campos,Sílvia C..
The aim of this work was to study the infrared drying process of carrot slices and to determine coefficients related to the heat and mass transfer of the process. Fresh carrots were used, dried until constant weight in a dryer with infrared heating source. Different models were utilized to fit the experimental data of constant and falling drying rate periods. It was verified that the coefficients of heat and mass transfer, during the constant drying rate, significantly increased with temperature on rise. The Diffusion Approximation, Two Terms, Midili and Verna models satisfactory represented the falling period of drying rate of carrot slices. The effective diffusion coefficient increased with temperature and this relationship can be represented by the...
